Displays of racing equipment. Videos of area tracks and racing. Presentations by experienced drivers on car and personal preparation, racing techniques, flags and rules and a thousand other things you might otherwise have to learn the hard way!
Who's putting on this thing?
North Suburban Sports Car Club, an all-volunteer non-profit organization, has presented this series of introductory meetings every spring since 1961. Its only purpose is to help people get started in sports car racing the easiest, safest and most economical way possible. Thousands of drivers have realized their dream of getting their car on a race track as a result of these meetings.
Our sanctioning body is the Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs, a nine club federation of racing groups in Illinois and Wisconsin.
At the end of the classroom presentations we will have track touring on the Autobahn north course so you can get the feel of driving on a real road racing course.
What kind of racing are we talking about?
This is amateur sports car racing. We do Time Attack / Autocross, which is solo racing against the clock on the Blackhawk Farms, Milwaukee Mile, Autobahn CC and GingerMan Raceways. We do Current Era wheel-to-wheel racing, going at it doorhandle to doorhandle for champion-ship points and trophies. And we have Vintage/Historic racing, wheel-to-wheel, but at a much lower level of intensity, where showing and exercising the car is more important than winning.
On-Track Driver Schools are a key part of the long term safety and success of our racing program. You must pass one to race wheel-to-wheel, and they are highly recommended for autocross racers. Our 2007 racing season includes 10-12 wheel-to-wheel races for Current Era and V/H, 5-6 Time Attack / autocross races and 3 driver schools.
Did you miss out this March? We run this series every Spring. And while these sessions are extremely helpful in getting started in racing, they are not required. Visit the web links at the right and jump on board almost any time during the year.
First timers, retreads or just curious? All are cordially invited to attend this Road Racing School seminar at the spectacular Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL.
There is no charge, no obligation. We hope that you will like what you see and join us in the exciting sport of amateur road racing as a driver, race crew member or race official.
As this is a private club, please RSVP so we can assure you will be admitted onto the track grounds.
